Non-standard entry requirements
All students should have a 2.2 or above in a social science or similar degree. Many students have degrees in Geography, but we have also accepted students with degrees in areas such as Business Studies and History of Art.

Course description
This MA is aimed at graduates from a variety of disciplines who are looking to pursue a worthwhile, challenging and rewarding course that leads into a career in spatial planning and related fields. This course provides graduates with the full Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) initial planning education. It combines core spatial planning units of study with specialist units in one of the following areas: environmental planning, urban design or urban regeneration.
The course includes a compulsory one
week residential European field study
visit. All students are required to pay
the full cost (this was £580 in 2008).
Career opportunities
Graduates from the programme will emerge with a range of knowledge and skills of value to potential employers and to career progression opportunities. Employment prospects are excellent with demand exceeding supply. Successful planning students may find jobs in central government and nongovernmental organisations, with local authorities and private consultants in property and planning.
Typical background of applicant
Students on this programme will have a degree (2:2 or above) in a social science or related subject. Many students are studying on a part-time basis and are likely to be supported by their employers.
