Course description

The course fully prepares teachers for teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and satisfies the initial training requirements for subject specialists. The qualification will enable candidates to apply for the status of Qualified Teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QTLS). The course involves training in planning and delivering to learners and assessing progress. It also involves consideration of wider issues such as the whole Lifelong Learning sector, professionalism and aspects of curriculum design.

The minimum teaching practice requirement is 150 hours in your chosen specialist area (over two years). New entrants to the profession will be supported in the arrangement of appropriate teaching placements.

LLU+ is a national consultancy and professional development centre, which aims to improve the quality of individuals’ education and training to enable them to achieve success. LLU+ works primarily in the areas of literacy, numeracy, dyslexia, family learning and English for speakers of other languages, but also has specialists in learning support, language, maths, the application of learning styles, and approaches to teaching and learning. LLU+ offers consultancy and advice, project development, trainer education, research and development and professional development networks.

– Existing teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector who want to obtain an appropriate qualification; or
