Course description
This programme is suitable for:
– Leaders and managers who want to promote or develop a strategic case for raising LLN skills in their workforce development programme
– Training managers or trainers who are responsible for training and development needs in their organisations
– Those who are interested in developing their own skills for delivering LLN in the workplace such as assessors and union learning reps.
The programme:
– Supports a strategic, whole organisation approach to raising Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills within your workforce
– Is customised to your work environment
– Develops a relevant, cost effective and current business case to support the skills development of your workforce
– Enables individuals in your workplace to design and deliver flexible training programmes that integrate LLN skills development.
Career opportunities
The government Skills Strategy and Skills for Life Strategy both require an increasing number of work place learning support practitioners. This programme supports the achievement of Leitch Implementation Plan that 90% of adults should have at least a level 2 qualification by 2020.
Progression routes to postgraduate study
Possible progression routes include: Continuing Professional Development Pathway onto Diploma in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

The course was developed in collaboration with NHS and has been delivered to the Waste Management Awarding Body (WAMITAB) and London Local Authorities as part of the LDA Embedding project.

LLU+ is a national consultancy and professional development centre which aims to improve the quality of individuals’ education and training to enable them to achieve success. LLU+ works primarily in the areas of literacy, numeracy, dyslexia, family learning and English for speakers of other languages, but also has specialists in learning support, language, maths, and the application of learning styles approaches to teaching and learning. The Unit offers organisations consultancy and advice, project development, trainer education, research and development and professional development networks.
