Course description

This course is intended for nonsurveying graduates working, or intending to work, in property development and related fields for public authorities, commercial organisations, property or construction companies, and private practice firms.

During recent decades property development has become a more complex process. The need to adapt to economic change, evolving funding mechanisms, legal developments, technological change, and political and environmental issues pose challenges for the property professional.

The course makes extensive use of outside speakers many of whom are drawn from our own alumni some of which have successfully established their own property development companies.

Career opportunities

On completion of the course you will be able to offer a broad range of expertise, harnessing your first discipline with the theories, practices and techniques of the planning and development surveyor. To date employment prospects have been excellent covering a wide range of potential opportunities in commercial and residential property markets.

Typical background of applicant

Successful entrants would hold a good degree (preferably 2:1 or above) from diverse disciplines and have the capacity to think about a broad range of theoretical and practical issues. Parttime applicants with cognate degrees and a minimum of two years practical experience would normally expect to receive advanced standing for some of the conversion units.
