Course description

Therapeutic Radiographers play a vital role in the management and treatment of people with cancer. As a practitioner of this discipline you will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for the accurate planning and delivery of highly complex radiation therapy. In the treatment of cancer, accuracy is paramount and a variety o highly specialised equipment is available within radiotherapy departments to achieve this. Computerised tomography (CT) simulators employ the latest technology to localise tumours, technological advances in linear accelerator design permit treatment pinpoint accuracy, and treatment units housing radioactive sources play a useful role in patient management as do 3D planning systems.

Building on graduate skills, you will develop an enquiring, reflective, critical and innovative approach to Therapeutic Radiography within the context of the rapid changes occurring in the Health Service, enabling you to develop professionally by providing the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes for safe, effective and caring practice.
