Tuition Fees and Finance

Student status assessment

All full-time students must complete a student status assessment form to enablevthe University to determine fee status (Home, EU or Overseas).

Financial Assistance: Sources of student funding

Funding is available from a range of sources both in the UK and abroad, including research councils, trusts, industry, charities, employers and LSBU itself, although you should be aware that there is intense competition for the limited number of awards available. Local Authorities rarely fund students studying on postgraduate courses.

Student Loans are not available to Home and EU full-time postgraduate students other than for the PGCE and full-time PgDip Architecture (*) courses. Applicants are expected to arrange either their own funding or to obtain support from employers or other sources. A limited number of Research Scholarships and Research Council Studentships are available. These are linked to specific topics and, when available, are advertised nationally. Knowledge Transfer Associates usually enrol for research degrees and work on projects in industry and the commercial sector. They receive a mix of practical and formal training during the two year scheme and develop marketable skills and experience. Further information can be obtained at: www.ktponline.org.uk

Funding for full-time courses may be available through secondment from employers or from national agencies, which support particular areas of study. Students should contact the relevant course director for further details.
