Study Support
Disability and dyslexia support
Before you join your course you should make staff in Disability and Dyslexia Support Unit aware of any additional needs you may have. We will ensure that appropriate support is put in place to help you with your studies and make sure that your faculty makes specific provision for you during the course and during examinations. If you develop a disability or condition for which you may require support, or if you are not sure whether you are entitled to additional support, please contact the unit to discuss what is available.
Don’t just struggle on without help and don’t leave things until just before the exams to seek help! We can provide:
– Initial screening and assessment to identify specific learning disabilities
– Information regarding the Disabled Student’s Allowance (for eligible students)
– Individual arrangements for examinations and assignments, e.g. extra time
– Provision of tutors and support workers (if appropriate)
– We also provide cross-university training for staff to help them understand the needs of those with disabilities and dyslexia.

IT services
IT services for our students are provided on all campuses. We have over 400 workstations on open access in the purpose built Learning Resources Centre (LRC) at Southwark. From these you can access the internet and a substantial range of networked IT and technology-based software and resources. We also provide a wireless network for you to connect your own laptop and support your IT use, if you live in one of our study bedrooms.
Computer Services provide wireless internet access for authenticated laptop users at various locations around the Southwark Campus. Please check the website for details on connection and locations: www.lsbu.ac.uk/learningsupport/itsupport
