Course description
The PgCert qualifies teachers to run our PgCert for teachers of adults with learning difficulties with agreement from the course director, or equivalent course. It provides a professional qualification for teachers wanting to become trainers of teachers who work with adults with learning difficulties. The focus is on an integration of theory and practice and meeting the standards set by SVUK for teachers of Living and Work.
The course is set within the Framework for Teaching and Learning Skills, which is designed to encourage and support the development of self-reflective teaching, and an action research approach to professional work and critical academic studies. Candidates can then build on this qualification towards an MA.
Career opportunities
Qualified trainers can become independent trainers and consultants following the course, or continue to train teachers within their organisations.
Typical background of applicant
Experienced practitioner working with groups of adults with severe or moderate learning difficulties, ideally with some experience as a trainer.
