Entry requirements
A degree equivalent to UK degree, an overseas teaching qualification, GCSE (C or above) or equivalent in English, Mathematics and Science, you must be currently employed in a teaching post.
Please contact Naric (www.naric.org.uk) to seek further information on the equivalency of overseas qualifications.
Course description
To be recognised as a qualified teacher in England you need Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This course is designed to allow you to demonstrate that you fulfil the requirements for QTS. If you are an overseas-trained teacher and you are teaching in a school, this course allows for a final assessment only route to QTS, providing you have the required entry qualifications and experience. Your school will need to support your application.
A limited number of training grants are available. Suitably qualified teachers may also apply for exemption from the induction (Newly Qualified Teacher) year. For teachers wishing to be considered for this programme, we will undertake an initial entry assessment. On acceptance, we will put in place a programme of support and assessment, which will be designed to allow you to demonstrate that you are competent in the Qualifying to Teach Standards.
Additional notes
Please note that this route is provided for teachers working in Foundation Stage, Key Stages One and Two, and at Key Stages Three and Four for teachers teaching selected secondary subjects.
