LSBU has four faculties, each of which hosts numerous departments. There are nearly 150 courses available for postgraduate study alone, giving some indication of the wealth and scope of knowledge contained at LSBU.

Courses

LSBU provides courses in a highly supportive environment that gears you towards future employability, in the workplace and within academia, and puts you first. We pride ourselves on providing students with relevant and practical employment skills and supplying employers with a skilled workforce.

We deliver education that is in tune with the needs of business and society and are committed to meeting the needs of London and our students.

LSBU offers one of the most vocationally-orientated course portfolios available. Many of our courses are professionally accredited, and our academic staff are involved with meeting the needs of business and society, which informs what, and how, we teach.

Research

Research lies at the heart of the University’s academic provision, informing and underpinning our teaching and contributing to the depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding in a wide range of subjects. Our international community of students and scholars work within a stimulating atmosphere where teaching excellence combines with first-rate research.

Our varied research strengths include a wide range of disciplines and interests in the fields of: science, engineering, the built environment, business and management, social science, education, media and performing arts, and health.

LSBU notably gained significant recognition in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) carried out by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). According to Times Higher Education, LSBU rose to 68th place out of 132 universities, a significant improvement from its 2001 position.
