Dual Appeal of
The Moomins
Caroline Mickler Ltd is building a pre-school li-
censing campaign for the Moomins in the UK. Plans
are well advanced to bring the Moomins to a series
of early reader books from Puffin Books in 2010 –
the 65th anniversary of the Moomins’ first appear-
ance – while the coming year will also see T-shirts
and plush licensed out at retail.
The Moomins hold a position of dual appeal, to
the viewers who know the established characters,
and to pre-school consumers, who have no idea of
their history, and Caroline Mickler and Bull’s Press
of Sweden are developing a comprehensive licens-
ing program.
