A Global University
International students, from more than a hundred countries, form well over half of our graduate school, while international staff from sixty countries constitute almost one third of our academic staff. However, Lancaster’s community extends far beyond the campus with research, teaching and student exchange partnerships with leading universities and institutions around the world.
Our network of overseas teaching partnerships is a key component of our global outreach and commitment to internationalisation. Lancaster degree programmes are currently taught in collaboration with institutions in countries including:
China
Lancaster University has longstanding links including teaching, student exchange and research collaborations with a number of universities in China. These links have recently been further strengthened with a formal agreement with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The partnership is based on environmental sciences and will focus on global problems and topical issues ranging from sustainable agriculture and land use to energy, waste and pollution.
India
Lancaster is the first and only university to deliver higher educational qualifications at GD Goenka World Institute in Delhi. Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are offered in business management, marketing and economics. The programmes are validated by Lancaster and taught by Goenka staff.
Jordan Lancaster University has a strategic partnership with Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) in Jordan. The first collaborative programme offered by Lancaster and PSUT is the Lancaster Global MBA, which was launched in 2009 and is taught in Amman, Jordan by both Lancaster and PSUT staff.
Kazakhstan Lancaster and Kazakhstan-British Technical University (KBTU) have agreed to a new teaching partnership. The first collaborative programme will be an MSc in Networked and Mobile Systems. The programme will be delivered at the KBTU campus in Almaty, Kazakhstan and taught jointly between experts from Lancaster University and KBTU.
Malaysia Lancaster University launched an academic partnership in 2006 with Sunway University College, Kuala Lumpur and there are now over 1000 students enrolled on dual degree programmes in Accounting and Finance, Business and Management, IT, and Psychology. Students study at Sunway, but are awarded a degree from both Sunway and Lancaster.
Pakistan Lancaster and Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), a leading university in Pakistan, have launched the first ever dual degree programme between UK and Pakistani universities. Starting in August 2010, the first dual undergraduate degree programmes are offered in Computing, Electronic Communication Systems and Business Studies. Students will be awarded a degree from both Comsats (CIIT) and Lancaster University upon graduation.
