Professor Steve Bradley

Economics, Associate Dean for Postgraduate Teaching

Professor Bradley is a specialist in Education Economics. In particular he focuses his work on economics of secondary schooling, including the investigation of the effects of quasi-market forces in secondary education, and the educational gender gap.

“I look at issues related to the operation of the youth labour market, like the causes of youth unemployment, employer selection and recruitment and the econometric evaluation of youth training programmes. I have also analysed areas such as the effects of introducing market forces into the secondary education. My current research interests focus on skill formation in the youth labour market, the determinants of educational attainment and the analysis of transitions in the adult labour market.”

“The Department of Economics has a diverse range of research interests spanning a wide area of theoretical and applied issues, looking at areas such as labour economics, financial economics and international trade. Consequently our students have the opportunity to draw on a really strong research base.”

“We have a consistently strong reputation for high quality teaching and personal attention to students at all stages of their study.”
