The courses run in “block mode” with each module block consisting of one week intensive classroom contact followed by two weeks of laboratory based assignments which are designed to complement and clarify the taught component.

Chris studied at Lancaster for his undergraduate degree, a BSc in Telecommunications and I.T. and then continued his studies completing an MSc Social Network Technologies. He now works as a Project Manager for Lancaster-based Company Forsberg Services Ltd.

This course provides you with the design and development expertise necessary to creating novel social networking applications and services with a particular emphasis on mobile interaction. The course covers not only advanced web development techniques but also native and web based development for the majority of mobile phone environments and is taught by internationally recognised experts in this field. Specific topics include context aware games, mixed and augmented reality, user-generated content, mobile web 2.0, collective intelligence, perpetual beta, mash-ups, location-based applications, community building, reflective applications. The course receives extensive support from Forum Nokia and benefits from phone donations and that the School is the only UK academic institution to have been granted Nokia Professional Developer status.
