TOTAL LICENSING
EXPANSION FOR BLONDE PILOT’S SECRET WINGS
Blonde Pilot’s Secret Wings, the best selling girls stationery license for Toys’R’Us has
teamed up with the newly formed FitzRoy Media to establish this UK product line as
a major worldwide brand for girls.
Building on the success of UK agents Brand Champions in establishing a best-sell-
ing and profitable line of girls’ back-to-school and stationery products in the Toys
R Us retail chain against established and heavily marketed competition, Blonde
Pilot in association with FitzRoy Media has appointed agents for Germany,
Greece, Middle East, Benelux, Korea, China, Taiwan andSouth East Asia with
further appointments pending for France, Spain/Portugal, Italy and Scandi-
navia. To compliment these local programs, four major multi-territory licensees
have been concluded. Time Concepts have signed for watches, clocks, room dé-
cor and lights, Prosperity Industrial for beads, jewellery cases and craft sets, eN-
ice for 3D pen dolls, toy cosmetics, play sets and speciality items and Sandylion
for stickers, pads, pens and stationery items etc. Products from these companies
will be introduced into Europe from mid 2009 and progressively marketed world-
wide as the Secret Wings program expands.
Secret Wings publishing and media has been bolstered by the appointment of an exclusive sales agent who was formerly
with MGM and Simon & Schuster to secure publishing deals worldwide. Two Secret Wings books have already been
completed, with three more commissioned for the first Secret Wings book series. An animated DVD special, comprising
4 x 11 minute episodes based on the Secret Wings stories, will be produced in 2009 to further raise the profile of this
successful girls’ brand.
Blonde Pilot believe that, with the backing of FitzRoy Media and the proven success of the Secret Wings brand at retail,
the future for this colourful and popular brand looks set to fly ever higher.
NEW DEALS FOR HONG KONG COMPANY
Two new properties at this year’s Hong Kong Licensing Show were successfully launched by
Good Link International Licensing - Ming The Minibus and Chu The Peak Mouse, from the books
by acclaimed International school teacher, Thomas Beckett. Goodlink are now in final negotia-
tions with a major label to release a Holiday CD in China and with a major animation company
for an international television show featuring both characters.
“We’ve had a tremendous response since we launched the properties,” says Lenny Patsiner
head of Licensing. “Everyone feels that these characters have an Asian flavor with global appeal.”
Good Link is urging licensees to get on board soon. “Ming is like Herbie the Love Bug meets
Curious George and Chu the Peak Mouse really captures the spirit of Environmental change.
With the whole world turned to China this summer for the Olympics we feel our characters are
at the right place at the right time”
Ming the Minibus started as a successful line of educational books distributed to teachers around
the world helping children learn to read English. Ming has become an International sensation with
students taking travel photos of a cut-out Ming in exotic locales around the globe. Ming travels
the world discovering new cultures and meeting new friends in all the different countries.
Chu the Peak Mouse is Thomas Beckett’s newest series of books. Chu’s focus is on cleaning up
the environment. He’s a little mouse living in Hong Kong, one of the biggest cities in the world.
Chu lives with his Mom, Dad, little Sister, Cousin, Auntie, Grandfather and Grandmother at the
best address in Hong Kong – The Peak. However, Chu is so allergic to the pollution, smog, and
litter in Hong Kong that it is hard for him to enjoy the city. Undeterred, he battles to clean up the environment and
make it a cleaner more eco-friendly world.
MARATHON TO LICENSE DOMINOES GAME
PDA Dominoes, the definitive organizing authority of the game of dominoes, has appointed Marathon Projects in the US
as its licensing agent. Marathon Projects will oversee the program with a focus on complementary gaming and enter-
tainment products including slot machines, lottery tickets, arcade games, videogames, handheld games, computer games,
smartphones, online games, domino game table, candy and books.
Craig Kalter, President of Marathon Projects said, “Although the game of dominoes is one of the oldest games in the world,
it wasn’t until the establishment of PDA Dominoes, LLC in 2005, that there was an official organization; The Professional
Domino Association (PDA), dedicated to the game of dominoes. The new licensing strategy will afford PDA Dominoes
additional marketing opportunities to continue to officially grow the game as well as the PDA Dominoes brand.”
