THE SECRET LIFE OF SUCKERS DEBUTS
BRB in Spain are working on a new animated TV series titled The Secret Life
of Suckers, co-produced by Screen 21, Genoma Animation and Televisió de
Catalunya. This is a situation comedy about life itself as seen through a car
window, and it presents a kind of original X-ray of the urban environment.
The key characters are all designer dolls that live in cars.
A plush toy with suckers, a gothic doll, a hip hop speaker, a spooky panda, and
some wrestlers… the series surrounds the activities of the toys that are left
in the car when nobody else is around.
The series comprises 104 x 2 minutes in HD 3D animation. The characters
are designed using the inspiration of modern Art Toys and have an urban
graffiti influence.
With Suckers, the Spanish company BRB continues putting its faith in avant-
garde projects, which have been so hugely successful recently, such as Papawa,
REPRESENTATION DEAL FOR GOOCHICOO
Design-led baby/toddler property Goochicoo has announced
a major new representation deal with US licensing agency Al
Ovadia & Associates.
Goochicoo was developed by the leading British character
creators - designer Kaely Backland and writer Ged Backland
- after the birth of their twins.
They felt that there was a nothing on the market that reflected
the mischievous and funny nature of babies and toddlers - what
Ged calls ‘nappitude‘. The result was Goochicoo - a range of
little characters with slogans that give them a humorous edge,
such as Give Peas a Chance and The Piddler. A whole new
range of slogans has been developed for the US market, such
as Future President, Born In The USA and God’s Gift.
The brand already appears on a range of cutlery by Tommee
Tippee and branded bedding by Izziwotnot, with greeting
cards being handled by UK Greetings, who are due to
distribute across the country through their network of retail
customers.
Advanced negotiations are also taking place regarding licenses
for toys, gifts and apparel and further announcements are expected shortly.
