The Department of Religious Studies is well known throughout the
world and attracts students and visiting specialists from every
continent. Our reputation as an international centre of excellence
in research was recognised in 1989, 1992, 1996, 2001 and 2008
by the award of high ratings in the national research selectivity
exercises. As one of the largest religious studies departments in
Britain, we offer a wide range of courses and academic supervision.
With our primary focus on religion and spirituality in the
contemporary world, we are ideally positioned to contribute to
topics of growing concern within the academic discipline of
