The Lancaster Law School has a thriving postgraduate programme
which is principally characterised by a multidisciplinary approach to
the study of law as a social phenomenon. Law is studied in a
manner which is theoretically informed and practically relevant.
Staff within the Law School believe in the need to address law in
the light of European and International developments and combine
these concerns with a learning environment where postgraduates
and academic staff can work in an informal atmosphere conducive
to open debate. The Law School runs a regular Research Seminar
Programme to which outside speakers are invited and work-in-
progress papers are given by staff and postgraduate members.
Postgraduate students also run their own Colloquium at which
they can present current research ideas and findings to their peers.
We encourage the imaginative use and development of both legal
Dr Suzanne Ost
and general skills.
