The Department of Linguistics and English Language at Lancaster
University is one of the largest Linguistics centre in Britain and
incorporates: the University Centre for Computer Corpus Research
on Language; the Centre for Research in Language Education; the
Literacy Research Centre and a number of smaller research groups.
85% of our research is internationally recognised and 20%
is world leading – RAE 2008
Postgraduate students are welcome to take part in the activities of
these research centres and also our smaller and very active staff-
student research groups.
The Department also runs a 4-week and an 8-week course in
EAP/Study Skills in the summer for intending postgraduates whose
