Graduates will be employed in various positions in the furniture and wood
products manufacturing industries and related areas. Typical areas of
employment include hands-on furniture and wood products design and
manufacture, interior architecture and design, CAD/CAM, and architectural
woodwork and joinery. Demand for graduates in this area is very high.
Although this is a new programme, many recent graduates from existing
programmes have progressed to positions in these areas.
Other Essential Information
This programme involves training in the use of a wide variety of woodwork
machinery. Study visits to companies and an extensive work placement are also
incorporated into year 3 of the programme and provide an opportunity for
graduates to gain valuable hands-on work experience and apply their
knowledge in company-based projects.
Follow-on Studies
Graduates can proceed to the Bachelor of Science (honours)
in Architectural Woodwork and Interiors.
