SEMICON EUROPA

Last dance in Stuttgart
This month will see the annual SEMICON Europa continue to provide a
platform for networking and communication for the semiconductor and high tech
manufacturing industry. The European industry has changed drastically in the
last ten years and SEMI continues to develop new methods to meet industry
need. EuroAsia Semiconductor looks at what to expect.

In this time the European arm of SEMI has Technology Symposium, the twelfth annual Fab

broad enough to meet the global needs while
specific enough to focus on European specific
issues. Add to that the continued divergence of the
industry into specialised and emerging sectors like
nanotechnology and photovoltaics and it is easy to
understand why SEMI has to constantly change the
nature of the show to meet the varying needs of the
manufacturing community.
Although the actual trade show floor continues
to provide networking opportunities for
participants it is by no means the only part of the
trade show experience. SEMI Europe continues to
be a major driver for standards within the industry
as well as offering a wide range of business and
technical programmes in parallel to the exhibition.
There are also the emerging areas that require
their own platform for the show and this is also
provided for exhibitors.
The show will once again be held at the Messe
Stuttgart and exhibitors will display their
manufacturing technologies for semiconductor
devices and photovoltaic cells. This will be the last
year at Stuttgart before the SEMICON Europa
show moves to its new Dresden address under the
auspices of Silicon Saxony. This will be a topic for
discussion throughout the show I am sure.
SEMICON Europa also features the SEMICON
Europa conferences and programmes are divided
into four tracks including Semiconductor; Test,
Assembly and Advanced Packaging; MEMS/MST;
and Photovoltaic.
