NJ: Are links important when it comes to optimising your website? JS: They are absolutely the most important thing on the internet. Everything is driven from a link: it’s traffic, brand exposure.

NJ: What kind of link partnerships should I be trying to make? JS: To start, let’s have a look at what sort of link partnerships you want: there are three sorts of partnerships.


Number one partnership is a search partnership designed to get better placements on search engines. So here you are going after sites that are not necessarily going to send you good, contextualised traffic but are actually going to drive your positions to the top of Google.


Number two, and my favourite, is a PR partnership. This is designed for brand and product exposure – in other words, if you get a listing on this site you’ll get good brand exposure and good product exposure – but also has clear search engine benefits.
