Erkki Mäkelä
Erkki Mäkelä graduated from the Tampere
University of Technology’s Department of
Civil Engineering in 1999. Following
graduation, he worked as a researcher at
TUT up to 2002, after which he transferred to
Arcus Oy (a subsidiary of VR Track Ltd) to
work as a geotechnical engineer. In this
capacity, he was involved in numerous road
and rail track design projects. Mr Mäkelä
joined the Finnish Rail Administration in 2005,
at first working as a Project Manager for track
building ventures and later as an Area
Manager in charge of construction projects
across Southern Finland. He has diverse
experience of various route planning and
design supervision tasks, in addition to which
he has held developer responsibilities for a
number of construction projects.
