Introduces...

Centre Point Trust is a registered charity and is a non-profit making organisation. We have been working in the community for over 25 years and our purpose is to provide quality childcare and a safe place for children to play and spend their leisure time.

We are regulated by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture and all our staff hold nationally endorsed qualifications in Early Years Child Care and Education, Play Work or both. We have a fully qualified sports coach and forest school leaders for our outdoor activities.

Centre Point Trust is a dedicated play care centre. We respect children’s leisure time and put much emphasis on children choosing how they want to spend their time.

The play care centre is split into separate units for appropriate age groups. Each unit has a Team Leader and a Deputy Team Leader, along with a number of Play Workers who are all qualified to Education, Sport and Culture requirements. All of this is overseen by the Play Care Co- Ordinator, who is qualified to Management Level 5 and also holds Occupational qualifications.

During term-time, Centre Point Trust offers a breakfast club and an after school club. The breakfast club opens at 7.30am each morning and offers a well-balanced and healthy breakfast for all children. The children then have time to play before we take them by minibus to school. The children are collected at the end of the school day, and taken back to Centre Point where they are provided with a healthy snack, and a choice of activities, up to 6.00pm.

Centre Point provides a safe and stimulating environment where children have a free choice of various areas of play and can feel relaxed and familiar with their surroundings. Children learn to make new friends, to solve problems and to explore new challenges which promote self- esteem.

Our holiday care is a fun and exciting time for all the children. Similarly to term-time, we are open from 7.30am to 6.00pm every working day. We plan activities that provide new experiences including kayaking, surfing, blow karting, bowling, museums, castles and cinema, and the children are free to choose which activity they would like to participate in.

On site activities include cooking, drama, art, craft, creative play, gardening, construction, role play and

many, many others. The children use the large outdoor spaces to make dens, camps and hideaways using natural resources to extend their play experiences. The outdoor areas are also used for riding bikes, playing games, making slides and playing with water.

There is a number of quiet/chill out areas for all children, which are important at the end of the school day. These areas comprise of TV’s, DVD players, sofas, bean bags, cushions, books, board games and dressing up areas.

We also offer camping or “sleepovers” for younger children, whenever possible during holiday time. These residential activities promote independence, and give the children confidence in making new friends. For many children it is their first time away from home and it can be a huge challenge for them.

During the holiday period children are required to bring a packed lunch with an ice pack to ensure food is kept at a low temperature, although Centre Point will provide breakfast, afternoon snack, fresh fruit and drinks throughout the day.

Centre Point also has its very own Forest School. Managed by fully qualified Forest School Leaders, our Forest School is a unique facility available to Centre Point through a generous gesture by a local family. The area allows children to play and explore in a safe and natural woodland, field and quarry environment.

A basic willow shelter is on site and children can cook on an open fire, swing on ropes from trees, build dens and make tools and equipment from the natural materials found on site.
