In the Garden

Lawn care Complete turfing and seeding new lawns. Repair lawn edges and bare patches on established lawns and begin to mow ensuring the blades are set high for the few few cuts. Use a spring-tine rake to remove any moss and thatch. During April remove debris and treat any weeds appearing in the lawn and continue to mow with the blade set high.

Clean the patio, decking and facade of your house. Now is the perfect time to pressure wash the hard surfaces in your garden to remove dirt and algae. Remove moss and weeds first with a blunt blade and then scrub or power wash the slabs or wooden decking. Never use bleach to clean stubborn stains because it will strip the colour from the surface and damage plants in surrounding beds, not to mention harm the wildlife, so opt for a patio or deck cleaner that can be purchased from garden centres or DIY shops. You can also take the opportunity to power wash the facade of your house and rendered walls.

Paint your house in late spring/early autumn when the weather is nice and dry. It will instantly transform your home and be the perfect gleaming backdrop for scented climbers.
