Mignot Memorial Hospital Alderney

Completed in April 2004 the works comprised the construction of a new two storey building of approximately 9000m2

together with soft and hard landscaping.

A high mass principle was adopted along with the use of a “Termodeck” Air Transfer/Ventilation system which utilises the hollow cores of the precast concrete floor and roof slabs to deliver and control the temperatures of air within the various areas of the building.

Charles Le Quesne were invited to carry out a value engineering exercise, this resulted in a £1million saving to the project and enabled the client to build within his budget allocation.

The works comprised, in two phases, the construction of a new single storey building to provide one and two bed continuing care wards with ancillary facilities and the phase 2 refurbishment of the existing hospital following decant into the phase one works.

The entire contract was carried out whilst the hospital remained in full occupation and without interruption of patient services.
