China Fishing Tackle Association (CFTA)
DESPITE recent economic problems, the Chinese market seems to be making positive
movements with a new roaming tackle show making its debut.
T_h e China Fishing Gear Manufacturing Centre (CGC) Expo held in Wehai
in November saw decent visitor numbers and the chance for many local Chinese
manufacturers to meet with foreign buyers.
Mr Li Jiang, organiser of CGC and also vice president of the CFTA, said: “CGC Expo
is designed to satisfy the needs of buyers and exhibitors who don’t have a big budget. But
it can still off er a high quality of business and allows buyers to take a good look at the local
manufacturers in some of China’s biggest fi shing tackle manufacturing cities.”
European Fishing Tackle Trade Association
(EFFTA)
EFTTA is currently fi ghting the battle to protect
European fi sh stocks from the constant threat of
cormorants. T_h e Wetland International Cormorant
Research Group recently produced population fi gures
for European cormorants, which have been criticised
by EFTTA – there is a cormorant conference set to
be held by the European Parliament soon to decide
on what action is necessary.
Meanwhile, EFTTA has announced that its
chosen charity for 2009 will be the Bacs-HOSZ
charity from Hungary, which provides support

competitions at a county and national level. Janet
Doyle, secretariat general manager said: “It’s always
such a diffi cult decision when choosing a charity but
we are very happy that we have chosen to support
