The Alumni Awards 2007

The inaugural alumni awards celebrated outstanding contributions made by Trinity graduates.

On 22 October 2007, Ingrid Craigie B.A. (1976), John Fingleton B.A. (1987), John Healy B.A. (1972) and Dr Stanley Quek M.B., M.A. (1970) were presented with Alumni Awards in recognition of their achievements in their respective fields and the contribution they have made in Ireland and internationally. Numerous events were held during the day, beginning with lunch in the Provost’s house and culminating with the award ceremony dinner in the Dining Hall that evening. This was the first year of the Alumni Awards and the awardees were selected by a committee chaired by former Provost Dr Thomas Mitchell M.A. (j.o.), Litt.D., F.T.C.D. (1980).

Ingrid is well known for her many appearances in premieres of plays by leading Irish playwrights such as Brian Friel, Thomas Kilroy and Hugh Leonard. She has also numerous TV and film appearances to her credit.)

(Photo captioned: • JOHN FINGLETON is CEO of the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) in the UK and former head of the Irish Competition Authority. As a Trinity student, he was a Scholar and Gold Medallist. He also lectured in the Department of Economics for 10 years.)

WHAT IS THE ALUMNI AWARD?

The Alumni Award is recognition by Trinity College of the important contributions that a College graduate has made to their particular field. The award is given on an annual basis.

HOW ARE THE AWARDEES SELECTED?

Any College graduate or College staff can nominate a candidate. All nominations are reviewed, with winners selected by the Alumni Award committee.

HOW DO I MAKE A NOMINATION?

Nominations for 2008 are closed. Nominations for 2009 can be made by submitting a completed nomination form before 28 February 2009.
