The Long Room Hub | FEATURE
"The Long Room Hub is about the importance of moving beyond the walls of Trinity and engaging with the wider community in Dublin, Ireland and internationally. It is about showing how humanities research is important in so many aspects of everyday life, culture and society." Kathy Gilfillan B.A. (1972) – Director, Lilliput Press
<< PROFESSOR LOUISE RICHARDSON – HARVARD UNIVERSITY
"I see the Trinity Long Room Hub both as a synergistic convener of humanities scholars as well as a beacon to shed light on the extraordinary resources of Trinity's library and Ireland's long-standing tradition of nurturing the humanities. In an era in which the breathtaking pace of technological developments force us to confront profound questions about the prolongation, and even replication, of life, the humanities provide the best guide available to help us navigate these fundamental questions about what it means to be human.”
>> JOHN LAVER – CHAIR, TRINITY LONG ROOM HUB GOVERNANCE BOARD
“I share a perception of Trinity College Dublin as the premier university in Ireland, and see its recent position in the European league table as entirely justified. The arts and humanities now have the clear potential to confirm their prestige in world terms, and this seems the moment to ensure this by significant and sustained investment, backed by a visionary and careful strategic plan. In addition, the latest HEA report on student choices shows that a record number are opting for humanities subjects, which stand on the edge of dramatic expansion.”
>> ROBIN ADAMS – LIBRARIAN
“The Trinity Long Room Hub has the potential to bring fresh vision, research tools and novel means of dissemination to our holdings of scholarly treasures, so bringing new dimensions to the study of recorded thought and creativity.”
