"Trinity Long Room Hub has resonated very strongly with me. It is a ‘logo’ for the ‘New University’ - how it will learn, teach and research in the future." Loretta Brennan Glucksman – American Ireland Fund

PROFESSOR ROY FOSTER – HERTFORD COLLEGE, OXFORD >>
“The arts and humanities have themselves been transformed by revolutionized research networks and methods, and by a growing realization of their relevance to every area of modern life: they represent what will remain of us. Dublin has long needed an international research institute devoted to these subjects, as a focus for visiting scholars and an inspiration for those already engaged in pioneering research in Ireland. There could be no better establishing symbol than the iconic Long Room at Trinity. And there could be no better intellectual environment than the community of scholars active within the walls of a university that has itself, in the latest phase of its history, advanced to the very centre of Irish life.”
>> WHAT IS THE TRINITY LONG ROOM HUB ABOUT?
The mission of the Trinity Long Room Hub is to create an institute of advanced studies with innovative arts and humanities research, nurturing creative minds and feeding back into world-class teaching.
GOALS
To explore the human condition, generating new knowledge and understanding through strategically organised research and through dissemination, specifically by:
• Creating world-wide humanities research networks
• Unlocking the treasures of our library and other Trinity collections
• Transforming the wider world of knowledge through the use of technology
DESIRED OUTCOMES
To have in Trinity College Dublin a university of global consequence, manifested by:
• The display of world class leadership in the humanities
• The nurturing of minds to meet innovatively the challenges of today’s complex society
• The enhancement of Trinity’s contribution to Dublin city as a major cultural capital and to Ireland as a knowledge economy
"The Hub encourages and fosters debate throughout and beyond the university about the continuities of human experience, thought and expression and the new challenges we all face in a contemporary world facing profound change." Professor Moray McGowan – Acting Academic Director
