We couldn’t have done itwithout

you!

Centre Point trust is ... a registered charity which has been working in the community for over 25 years. Our purpose is to support the working parent by providing quality, flexible childcare and a safe place for children to play and spend their leisure time. We cater for children aged 2 years to 14 years.

Centre Point Trust is based over 2 sites – the Play Care Centre at La Pouquelaye, St Helier, and our Nursery at Green Street, St Helier.

Last year, Centre Point Trust’s Play Care Centre moved to new premises at the old La Pouquelaye Primary School. Although the building had been refurbished, internally we were left with an empty shell.

Through the amazing generosity of organisations such as the Lloyds TSB Foundation, State Street, Hawksford International and many, many more, we have been able to transform the building into a bright, comfortable and stimulating environment in which the children can spend their time before and after school, and during the holidays. The facility is not only fit for purpose, but is now a place that

the staff and the children can be proud of.

With the donations received we have been able to replace all the carpets and blinds (which were nearly 20 years old!), and purchase new furniture, white goods, toys, games and books. We have even been able to purchase a new kitchen for the staff room to enable the children to bake cakes etc., had a shower installed for our special needs children, and purchased a new telephone system and cabling for our computers. The whole place has been transformed and the difference is incredible!

In addition to this, two of the organisations that supported us not only gave large donations, but also provided manpower. The staff at Standard Bank kindly gave up their weekend and transformed our garden into a wonderful haven in which the children can play, and the staff from State Street donned their overalls and repainted the whole of the exterior of the building!

So, on behalf of the Trustees, the staff and the children of Centre Point Trust, I would like to say a huge thank you to each and every organisation that has helped us in so many different ways – we simply couldn’t have done it without you!

The Next 12 Months... Our project for the next 12 months is the internal and external refurbishment of our Nursery. The Nursery provides day care for 2-5 year olds, and is open from 7.30am to 6.00pm all year round. Our nursery care is focussed on pre- school education and aims to build key skills as a secure foundation for later learning. Based in Green Street, our nursery has a large outdoor area including its very own forest school.

The nursery is split over 2 floors. The ground floor is for ages 2-3 years (known as our “Caterpillars”) and the 1st floor is for ages 3-5 years (known as our “Butterflies”). The nursery also caters for children accessing the Nursery Educational Funding of 20 hours per week term time only. The 20 hours of funding will start in the September following your child’s 3rd birthday.

Each floor has its own outside play area and a separate forest area for tree climbing, exploring and investigating natural materials and bug hunting.

The environment is arranged into learning areas which offer play opportunities in construction, small world, role-play, water, sand, messy play, physical activities, creative
