Minority Small Business Champion of the Year
My Lan Tran, program manager for the City’s Office of Minority Business
Development, is selected as “Minority Small Business Champion of the Year”
by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Tran is selected from the
Mid-Atlantic region that includes Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware,
West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
“The City of Richmond is very fortunate
indeed to have an individual such as Ms.
Tran, who has the drive and commitment
to make things happen for those who seek
to establish and build their companies
in our area,” said OMBD Director Rita
Henderson.

May 16, 2007.
City of Richmond Wins Gold Star
The City of Richmond receives the
Corporation of the Year Public Sector award
for “raising the bar” from the Virginia
Minority Supplier Development Council
during their annual MIC Gold Star Awards
Celebration. VMSDC fosters relationships
between minority suppliers and their
potential clients: Fortune 500 corporations,
government agencies and universities.
