SAGA’s Annual Ski Clothing Fashion Show
- Friday, December 5th, 2008
Residents of sunny San Diego never really experience winter in December.
Instead, we have something called “Pretenber”—a time when retailers gather
the nerve to try to sell us snow hats and scarves. But who buys these things? A
likely candidate is a group of athletes who actually need them! SAGA Ski Club, a
snow sports and social club that is targeted toward San Diego’s LGBT community,
invites all “sagamites” to Flick’s Video Bar on December 5th to see the Sexy Ski &
Snowboard Models strut in the hottest in snow-sport apparel. Fashion, drinks and
opportunity drawings will heat up the night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Newcom-
ers can see the various kinds of trips and gatherings that SAGA has planned—both
snow sport-oriented and otherwise. Flicks will provide pizza and drink specials
throughout the evening and SAGA officers will be signing up new and previous
members at an event-exclusive rate of $30—dues are normally $40. Other SAGA
membership meetings are held at 7:00 p.m., the first Tuesday of each month (ex-
cept July and August, for obvious reasons) at The Hole, located at 2820 Lytton St.
5th Annual Martinis Above Fourth Wreath Auction
- Monday, December 8th, 2008
Okay, so a full-on Christmas tree—or Chanukah Bush—is too cumbersome
and will probably end up causing more of a mess than it’s worth. Bah! Humbug.
But how about a nice, petite holiday wreath? They’re tasteful, still aromatic and
they take up no space! Plus, buying one of the uniquely designed wreaths from
this year’s auction at Martinis Above Fourth will contribute to The Queen Eddie
Youth Fund! “Well,” you say… “as long as it benefits a queen!”
They say that Queen Eddie held the younger generations of our LGBT com-
munity in very high regard for their “capacity to bring about change.” So break in
those red-green striped clogs and head over to 3940 4th Ave. at 7:00 p.m. to pur-
chase your community-made wreath and help a queen out with her cause! More
than forty wreaths are planned to be auctioned off—all of which were created
and donated by various community members, organizations and businesses. For
more information, visit martinisabovefourth.com/WreathAuction.htm
