Sophisticated vessel a major delivery
Macduff Shipyards Ltd has recently completed its most prestigious order
to date, with the handing over of the vessel Alba Na Mara.
A
27m steel vessel, called Alba Na
Mara was recently completed
by Macduff Shipyards for the
Fisheries Research Services, an agency
of the Scottish Executive, to replace
Clupea, and the new ship will be based in
Fraserburgh. The contract was awarded
on a ‘design and build’ basis and is a
one-off design specially developed for
this project.
The vessel was built entirely at
Macduff, with the steel kit being
produced by the yard’s profiling
division. The project was also managed
by Macduff Ship Design Ltd.
The new vessel will carry out inshore
research, surveys, and monitoring work
to underpin advice given to government
