One of the more unusual tourist attractions in the
Solothurn area is a visit to the local stork colony but if
you feel like going up in the air yourself, try the chairlift
up to the top of Weissenstein in the Jura mountains.
A little more down to earth is the beautiful Baroque
Swiss town of Solothurn itself, where the Old Town
is considered to be one of the finest in Switzerland.
Cultural events take place throughout the year, including
the classic open air concerts and its renowned film and
literature days. Boulevard cafes line the pavements when
the weather permits or if you have rather more energy,
there are over 350 miles of hiking trails in the region.
