Why do it?
• To emphasise the point that possession has

a purpose
• To encourage players to ‘pick out’ a player
• To incorporate the GK in a possession
activity

How to do it?
• Two even teams play possession in a
designated area
• When the team achieve a set number of

passes they attempt to pass to the GK to
score a goal
• The GK then plays the ball to the other team

• The final pass to the GK must be in the air,
any pass along the ground the GK must treat
as a back pass
• Use two GK’s (one for each team). When one
GK receives the ball they distribute the ball
to the other GK to start play
• The final pass must be a particular type of
pass (e.g. a volley, a first time pass)
