construction Bank (ccB), one of the
country’s leading commercial banks,
refurbished its ViP Fortune Management
center in Beijing, the design team was conscious of giving
the space the requisite class and comfort befitting the
bank’s status.
central to its design philosophy is the harmony between physical
space and interior design. according to Principal Designer Joe
Zhang, this philosophy was inspired by one of china’s renowned
ancient philosophers, Lao tzu, and the team adhered closely
to this.
With a portfolio of clients that includes the country’s elite and
other high net-worth individuals, the designers were conscious
of the need to imbue the office with a level of sophistication. to
do this, Zhang incorporated aesthetics with the idea of “doors
to prosperity”. he explained that clients who walk through the
center’s various doors would, symbolically, enter the next level
of their prosperity; this was achieved through three “doors”
known as greeting, relationship and trading. the choice of
carpets played a pivotal role in expressing the tone and mood
of these different spaces.
at the “greeting door”, visitors can see and walk through the
glass door into the spacious reception area, where it’s warm
and welcoming. they would also be greeted by interfaceFLor’s
Pictorial™ carpet, which was selected for its contemporary floral
patterns that add a sense of comfort and homeliness.
next, visitors would be ushered through the “relationship
door” to another room where the bank’s relationship managers
consult their clients’ to understand their wealth management
needs. here, interfaceFLor’s syncopation™ in Beach and
coast patterns are used, as its rich, textured feel helps visitors
feel relaxed in the lounge area.
Lastly, visitors would step through the “trading door” to the next For the rest of the center, a modern, sleek look is created with
meeting room. having established a financial plan to grow their the use of wooden artefacts, lush colours and strategically
clients’ wealth, the next phase is for the relationship managers placed potted plants. Modern lightings and colourful furniture
to execute the plan. this last step symbolically means that are also lively complements to the clean, minimalist setting.
