The idea was to incorporate cutting-edge technology to
create an aesthetically pleasing work space.
According to 46-year-old Philip hannaford, Managing
Principal, hAsseLL’s Bangkok studio, the new office had
to have the same feel and “high-quality work environment”
found in their other studios in Australia and China. To
achieve such an environment, the company decided
on an open-office concept to eliminate the sense of
hierarchy within the workforce, and to unite the entire office
into one happy working family; previously, the company was
split up into two teams due to the space constraints of the
former studio.
in terms of communal spaces, hAsseLL Bangkok recognised
that with its open-office concept, the need for cosy, private
areas to provide a balance for its employees is important.
The firm created a “hub”, which is a combination of their
communal open staff pantry area and the landscaped
balcony, transforming it into a cafe space, lounge, terrace
and even a small putting green. not just an aesthetic
feature, the hub has added a certain conviviality and life to
the studio.
“People spend their meal times here, catching up with other
colleagues; it’s certainly one of the more popular spaces
within the studio,” hannaford reveals.
