club’s status as one of the country’s leading teams it
was imperative that their corporate function rooms
and areas reflected this. With our design team we
were able to formulate the best possible designs
that would ensure Chelsea Football Club’s image
was reflected right down to the floorcovering.
‘We were also one of the only UK manufacturers
capable of meeting the diverse needs of the project
with our ability to custom manufacture not only
axminster carpets, but also tufted carpet tiles too.
The end result across both stands is absolutely stun-
ning and with the appearance of both woven axmin-
ster and tufted tiles perfectly samples the scope of
our ability.’
From hospitality venues and retail locations
through to offices, bespoke carpeting is playing an
increasingly important role in all locations as de-
signers try to create interiors that deliver a unique
ambience. Whether reflecting architectural fea-
tures, creating a corporate feel or simply using the
floor as an element of the interior design, designers
are utilising the flexibility of modern manufacturing
techniques to achieve a unique statement.
Take Lano Flooring Solutions Walk of Fame
axminster concept for example. Created to meet
the demands of the hospitality sector, Walk of Fame
delivers a high quality 80% wool 20% nylon carpet,
in options of a seven to 11 row weave and in a
three-ply yarn for design and colour clarity.
Working from 365 standard patterns, an historic
archive of over 25,000 designs, or liaising with the
design team to create unique patterns, designers
can utilise up to 16 colours that reside on the creels
of the loom as standard from as little as 100m
2

and in just four weeks from approval of the kibby
samples sent, the carpet will be delivered on site.
However, should there be more specific colour
demands, such as those of the owning group or long
established interior décor, designers can then work
from a colour bank of over 320 colours and if the
order is above 400m
2
, there is no premium for this
service.
While there is much talk of how flexible carpet is
in terms of colour and pattern, this is more the forte
of locations such as hospitality and in retail sectors
the carpet must not detract from the merchandise
on display, particularly if it is clothing in question.
So, neutrality, or at least, minimal input on all three
fronts are key.
Designers can use the flexibility of modern
manufacturing technology such as FRS, ICN and
Colortec at Cavalier Carpets to play with all these
elements in bespoke offerings. In fact, Cavalier’s
five-metre FRS machine is currently the only one
of its kind in Europe, putting the manufacturer in a
unique position in delivering bespoke cut and loop
texture solutions.
Working alongside other floorcoverings is also
a big part of carpet’s role and with the popularity
of wood, stone and ceramic, the ability to capture
comparable tones must also be on the agenda.
Fortunately, Cavalier Carpets’ stock colours include
