very well.
Ege has recently launched two carpet tile col-
lections directed at the commercial market and in
particular, offices.
Taking inspiration from the strict and stylish
lines of the digital world, Barcode and Pixel sat-
isfy some of the essential requirements in office
environments: wearability, comfort and acoustics
absorption.
The need for flexibility and wearability com-
bined with top comfort has seen an upsurge in
demand for carpet tiles.
Steen Bjorn, product development manager,
explained the products a little further:
‘Barcode and Pixel give architects, designers
and specifiers the opportunity to choose carpet
solutions for offices and places of work that
provide great flexibility, good indoor climate and
elegant design.
‘The two collections are each offered in 12
modern colour combinations to appeal to the
contemporary designer. Barcode has a dark
base combined with modern, prominent stripes
reminiscent of the formal lines used in barcodes.
In the Pixel collection, the striped look has been
replaced with expressive dots for something
random and spontaneous.
‘Together, the colours and patterns of the two
collections produce a minimalist impression full of
character and ideal for busy offices.’
It is incredibly important to create a flexible
interior design concept on any given project so
Manhattan from Desso
that it can adapt and change to suit the constant
movements in tastes and styles.
Steen went on: ‘We have made it easy to adapt
each room. The tiles can be moved or removed
when required and allow easy access to the
subfloor at any given time. It is simple to under-
take repairs or new installations without having
to suit whole areas down.’
Focusing on green issues, Steen explains how
design flexibility is not ege’s only concern:
‘A healthy indoor climate is an important
precondition of being able to ensure comfort in a
room. All carpet tiles in the two new tile collec-
tions are therefore produced with ege’s patented
and environmentally friendly MOD750 backing,
made of 100% textile. As a result, the carpet tile
backing does not contain PVC or bitumen.’
All ege carpet tiles have been tested and certi-
fied in accordance with the Danish Indoor Climate
Labelling (DICL) scheme. This serves as a guaran-
tee that all of our carpets meet the standards of
the voluntary labelling scheme laid down by the
Danish Technological Institute to ensure a healthy
indoor climate.
A combination of broadloom carpet and carpet
tiles from Desso were chosen for the recently
built West Lindsey District Council offices in
Gainsborough near Lincoln.
