THE GESCHWENDER HPL Curved Lockers were fitted with a closed plinth and curved
top infill panel to the ceiling.
The school wanted to integrate the lockers with the catering and door access, all of
which was handled by the Gladstone Mifare System. Each student has their own card
which allows access to the school and the purchasing of school meals.
By reading the unique serial number of the Mifare card, a Metra ELS Net system (in its
first UK installation) was programmed to assign a locker to each student. Each locker door
is locked until a student presents their card to the central control unit and only his or her
door opens. The door locks once it is closed.
Trigger
As all of the lockers are linked together, the school is able to monitor in real time the use of
the lockers, see if any alarms are triggered by someone attempting to force open a locker
and ensure all doors are shut. A visual representation of the lockers allows the school to
assign specific lockers to each age group – for example the bottom two doors of each
locker bank are assigned to the youngest year groups who need easier access.
The system is designed to allow the lockers to be assigned to students each year
without the painful requirement of collecting keys at the end of each school year. At the

end of the year all cards of leaving students are made redundant in the system and new
cards are issued to new students.

Prior to tiling, a high flexibility

aggressive substances, such as
chlorides and sulphates.
