Dome provides
backstage hospitality
WHEN PAUL MCCARTNEY staged his concert in Tel Aviv in
September, an 800 sqm VIP arena was created backstage.
The two-bay Maxi Dome from In2Structures provided a
comfortable hospitality area with 12.5m of headroom
behind the main stage. Its interior was dressed and fitted
out with seating, a large central bar, a buffet area and a
“chilling zone”. A lighting rig was hung on a 10-metre
diameter circular truss above the bar, with a 2.1m diameter
MiPix LED mirror ball suspended below. A ring of 14 plasma
screens were attached around the lowest roof rail, enabling
a good view wherever people were sitting or standing in the
Dome and providing additional ambient lighting.
Load-bearing
The structure needed substantial load-bearing capacity to
accommodate two 40 sqm LED screens. Each arch of the
Maxi Dome can accommodate a 1500 kg centre point load Above Autopa’s Canterbury
or a 2500 kg uniformly distributed load, and it has been

sound, lighting and AV rigs easy and accessible.
The Dome offers branding opportunities and is suited to
corporate events and premium venue applications such as
the creation of VIP and special areas, says In2Structures,
part of the Gearhouse SA Group.
Maxi Dome uses rectangular box trussing and offers 25.7
metres of width, with the length determined by up to a
maximum of twelve 5.1-metre bays. In addition to the
load-bearing, the Dome’s design exceeds a 120km per hour
wind rating.
Multi layer membranes are white on the exterior and black
Duraskin on the interior, providing a complete blackout for
daytime events. The

the need to offer organised parking for them is increasing.
There are a variety of cycle shelters available from companies
such as Autopa, including the options of open-sided units for easy
access or fully enclosed for extra security. Galvanised shelters,
with colour coated finishes are available.
A selection of new cycle shelters recently added to the Autopa
range include Boston and Bolton Cycle Shelters, as well as the
VS1 shelter, which comes with integrated cycle stands. Pictured is
a Canterbury cycle shelter and extension bays with Sheffield cycle
stands installed at First Capital Connect’s St Albans City railway
station. This facility provides 41 cycle parking bays.
Protection
The provision of cycle stands and shelters reduces cyclist’s fear of
theft or damage to their bicycle, says manufacturer Furnitubes
International.
King Ecgbert School, via contractor GB Building Solutions, have
provided staff and pupils with new cycle shelters and stands.
The ACA800 TP Academy Shelter, with its contemporary heavy
duty galvanised steel frame and polycarbonate glazed roof, is
durable for long term protection against the elements.
Complementing the shelters is the College bolt down stainless
steel bright polished cycle stands.
