Juarez continues to be one of the most dangerous cities along the US - Mexico border. The ongoing violence has not only led to a tripling of the Mexican military presence in Juarez, but an increase in US National Guard troops also.

If you are seeking a downtown hotel near the border, try the Camino Real at 101 S El Paso St which is a beautiful, historic hotel named after the trade route between Mexico City in Mexico and Santa Fe in New Mexico.
