RUPRECHT-KARLS-
Heidelberg University has recently been awarded the status of a German
UNIVERSITÄT
HEIDELBERG
University of Excellence, honoring our continuous commitment to strive for
leadership in science and higher education.
CellNetworks Cluster of Excellence
Research networks – connecting cellular and human interactions
By combining expertises from different areas of life and material sciences, advanced imaging and
Science computational modeling, we strive for a better understanding of complex intra- and intercellular
networks, their dynamics and their system- based regulation.
A strong research focus on life sciences has formed at the Heidelberg University, bringing together
People
scientists from different disciplines, including biology, medicine, chemistry, physics and scientific com-
puting, and from the affiliated German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the European Molecular
Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Max-Planck Institute for Medical Research (MPI MF).
Technology
To understand biological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue to organismic levels state-of-the-art
technological platforms are applied and continuously being expanded and developed on campus.

Education – investing in our future
The recent advances in life sciences and the implications for medicine, pharmacology, and biotech-
nology requires a new generation of under-graduate and graduate students with an interdisciplinary
training and a broad vision and understanding of molecular and cellular processes. Heidelberg
University offers formal education and training in life sciences in a vibrant and stimulating scientific
environment with excellent research opportunities. It is our goal to educate tomorrow’s academic
elite seeking new frontiers in life sciences, medicine, and biotechnology.
Education
International Bachelor programs in “Biology”, “Molecular Cell Biology”, and “Molecular Biotechnology”.
Graduate
studies
International Masters programs in “Molecular Biotechnology” and “Molecular Biosciences”.
