How would you describe your aesthetic?
I don’t really know, except to say that it is graphic illustration.
By that I mean that I am not a graphic designer in any strict sense
but maybe an illustrator with good graphic sense. I am aware that
my work is quite different from piece to piece, but overall I think
there is something that unites it. I definitely like things simple, but like
detail too. So maybe you could describe my style as complicated
simplicity—like my deer, it’s simple but it took some time to do.
What’s hanging on your walls?
I’m moving house so I just took everything down, but previously I
02
had a couple of Jason Munn prints and quite a few Yokoland posters
I acquired in various ways (including stealing them from the streets
of Oslo).
What’s been the best/worst reaction to your work?
I think the positive reactions I got from people who saw my degree
show and the Free Range show in Brick Lane have been great
for me as I haven’t been that confident about my work during my
degree. Not much bad reaction so far, except maybe from me
—I’m the hardest person to please when it comes to my own work.
If you weren’t a designer what would you be?
I hope I am able to make some kind of living from designing, but
I don’t think it’s the only thing I will want to do in my life. Whatever
I do, I hope I get to travel a lot more—new places make me happy.
Who are your heroes?
I don’t know that I would call them ‘heroes’ but as for people
I admire—in the design world I would say Yokoland, Kim Hiorthøy,
03
Charley Harper, Olle Eksell, Enzo Mari, Bruno Munari (I could go

on here forever but there are blogs for that) and a whole host of
Congeries, A1 silkscreen my friends from Brighton too. I would also have to say Boris Vian, his

Keep creating things. Buy a Gocco printing machine and make
