Now the highlight of September’s annual london
design Festival, Piers Roberts and Rory dodd’s
designers Block has been around for eleven years
—long before ldF was a glint in its makers’ eyes.
this year, however, things are a bit different for
designers Block, as it is moving out of the east end to
rock up in a new venue in Covent Garden, ready
to give the West end a design thrill it won’t forget in
a hurry. Highlights among this year’s showcase of
inspiring talent will be Seoul illustrator esther lee
(whose work is pictured here)and the KithKin
collective’s project SomeRightsReserved, a concept
store offering downloadable design to visitors.

Sample the nocturnal charms of Hannah Waldron’s
world this month at the old Shoreditch Station on
Kingsland Road, which is brought to you by the good
people of Jaguar Shoes. For her first solo show, entitled
tonight i am an owl, the gifted illustrator transforms
the former train station into a physical manifestation
of her mind’s meanderings, with glow-in-the-dark prints,
paintings, animations, costumes, installations and,
of course, plenty of owl-action for the ornithologically
inclined among you. Keep an eagle eye out for further
exciting projects from Waldron later this year,
including a new magazine of her own making.
