DINNER
With the prices so reasonable, we decided to splash out on
a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, £45, which was poured into lovely
crystal glass flutes.
Luckily Karen had been very sensible in her choice of main
course, opting for the steamed sea bass with ginger and
vegetables in soy sauce, £14.90. It looked and smelled delicious.
Thai cooking does bring out the best in sea faring food, the
delicate fragrant spices and seasonings flavouring the fish but
not overpowering it.
As Karen tucked into her delicate dish I, being a total gannet,
had ordered my favourite noodle dish of Pad Thai with prawns,
£10, and it was a portion to rival the duck. It was slightly redder
in colour than the Pad Thai I’m used to but it tasted delicious
and while the prawns were a little on the small side, there were
plenty of them.
All in all we were impressed with Thai Siam and found the food
excellent, staff charming and if I could be guaranteed a slightly
bigger table on my next visit, I won’t risk waiting till the last
minute to book.
