ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES

TIVE SENIORS
Martinez Adult Education has developed partnerships with Contra Costa Regional Medical

Center, the Veteran’s Hospital, Alhambra and Martinez Convalescent Hospitals, and Residential

Educational Services to provide additional courses for Adult Basic Education and Adults with

Disabilities at their facilities. Classes include: Health for Everyday Living, Job Readiness, Social

Awareness, Basic Communication Skills, Cultural Studies, Personal Health Practices, Physical
Fitness, Independent Living Skills, Leisure Time Skills, Socialization Skills, and Computer

Education.

Basic Microsoft Word 2000

This class is offered to adults with mild to moderate disabilities who have

the ability to keyboard. Students will learn application of fonts, text, editing,
cut, copy, paste. They will also learn how to use clip art in their documents.

ACTIVE SENIORS

The following classes are for active seniors (50 or older). Students attending classes at the Senior

Center may pay an annual membership fee of $7.00 to join and park at the Senior Center while

attending classes. Students under 50 pay a different registration fee, except for sewing, quilting,

the Senior Community Center, 1111 Ferry Street, or the Alhambra High School Music Room.

Community Quilt Project

Learn beginning quilting while helping complete community quilts to be donated to various

non-profit organizations within Contra Costa County. ■

Quilting, Basic Techniques

Basic instruction in patchwork using scraps of fabric to make strip and other quilt blocks. Help

Clothing Construction

Quilters and Sewer’s Workshop

Join us—a fun group of quilters and sewers, getting together to quilt and sew. Focus on making
projects—quilts, totes, vests, jackets, etc. Plenty of space and tables to lay out your unfinished

quilts to baste or tie. ■
