Fire Fighting Ship 1. Communication equipment onboard is largely provided by Furuno, with the satellite compass SC-50, FR-1510 Mk III radar system, AP-50 autopilot, two GP-150 global positioning systems, FE-700 echosounder, NC-700 Navtex, FS-1570 SSB and finally FAX-408 weatherfax. It
also has two Sailor RT-5022
radiotelephones with DSC. The tug Mero has an additional two
Furuno Felcom 15 Inmarsat C and Sailor TT-3064A Inmarsat Mini M, which Waterstraat does not. Mero also has AIS provided by Furuno, FA-150. Mero has the Lloyds Register
classification 100 A1 Tug [] LMC UMS GMDSS A3 and was delivered under the Netherlands Antilles flag to Kompania di Tou Korsou (KTK) of Curaçao. Both tugs have accommodation
for eight persons and are completely insulated and finished with durable linings, acoustical Dampa ceiling and floating floors. Mero and Waterstraat are both
powered by two Caterpillar 3516B TA HD/C engines. However, Waterstraat has a higher total power than Mero at 3720bkW (5000bhp) at 1600rpm to Mero’s 3548bkW (4758bhp) at 1600rpm. T e generator sets and other auxiliary equipment onboard are identical apart from Waterstraat’s fi tting of a oil pollution control dispersant pumpset with two spray booms and differing brands of fi re-fi ghting monitors (Albach for Mero and Skum for Waterstraat). Mero has a fuel oil capacity of 100.1m3 and a freshwater capacity of 14.9m3

, but shares the same freshwater
