Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has delivered a new azimuth stern drive tug for the port of Hamburg and a further two for towing, mooring and fire- fighting operations in the Netherlands Antilles.


D


amen ASD Tug 2411 Peter is the first tug for Petersen & Alpers and will mainly


operate in the port of Hamburg. It was delivered in September, has a 70tonne bollard pull and is highly manoeuvrable, making it suitable for port duties. Peter has a Loa of 24.47m, a beam


of 11.33m, draught of 5.35m and a displacement of 483tonnes. It is powered by two Caterpillar 3516B TA HD/D main engines and runs at a total power of 4180bkw (5600bhp) at 1600rpm. Rolls-Royce Marine has supplied the slipping clutches and azimuth thrusters US 255. The tug has accommodation for four


persons, is insulated and finished with durable modern linings throughout the craft, with Dampa ceiling in the wheelhouse and Bolidt floating floors. It is fully air-conditioned with three cabins above maindeck, galley, mess/dayroom, sanitary facilities and switchboard room. The auxiliary equipment onboard


the tug includes two Caterpillar C4.4 T, 400V, 64.5kva, 50Hz, and two Sterling SIHI AKHA 5101 20m3

hydraulics are double main engine- driven pumps and the sewage plant is provided by Hamworthy. The communications and navigation
